A good reader has in his head precise images of the written words he knows. When he scans a text, his eyes move in jerks and identify the whole words and not the letters one after the other. The eyes send the "photos" of the written words to the brain which compares these "photos" with those it has stored since it began learning to read, then it interprets their meaning. When a child learns to read, he must build this bank of words written in his head. To do this, the more often the brain sees a word, the more it records the precise picture of the spelling of that word. To understand what we read, we must adopt a good reading speed and this speed depends on the efficiency of the system of recognition of written words. It happens that in some cases, this system develops badly or visually, a prerequisite for the good understanding of a text, with the help of repeated exercises. Rapidolect presents the user with words that have a very similar spelling that, despite its proper functioning, an accident comes to hinder its integrity (dyslexia). It is then necessary to train or retrain the recognition system, the visual recognition system is therefore strongly called upon to distinguish the spelling of each word. This software, in addition to stimulating the recognition of written words, requires sustained attention and a good working memory (when the stimuli used are sentences), which can be interesting aspects to work on in people with such problems.
PURPOSE, OBJECTIVES AND CONTENT OF THE SOFTWARE
GOAL OF THE GAME: You have to find a word (or a sentence) that appeared quickly on the screen from a choice of 2 to 5 confusing words (or sentences). A game session can consist of between 25 and 50 stimulus presentations. The game starts with 5 lives. A wrong answer therefore results in the loss of a life. Additional lives may appear during the game to give us a chance to complete the test.
OBJECTIVES: -To stimulate the visual recognition of written words. -Develop reading speed. - Stimulate attention and concentration.
CONTENT: Approximately 1000 words divided into groups of 2,3,4 or 5 presenting visual similarities and classified according to 3 levels of difficulty according to length, frequency and spelling. For example: -latin -pixie -loot -mutine -morning
